Kentucky's Largest Newspaper Endorses Obama

This coveted endorsement for Obama comes from the largest Newspaper in Kentucky, the Louisville Courier Journal. I should also note that the Courier Journal is also widely read across Southern Indiana:

Barack Obama for the Democrats

Sen. Barack Obama referred to that excitement in a teleconference interview last week with this newspaper's editorial board. "We were always the longshot," he said. "The fact we've done so well speaks to the hunger of the American people for a different message and a different direction."

We agree, and we also believe that Sen. Obama is the Democratic candidate better equipped to restore Americans' hope for the future and to bring change to Washington.

For that reason, we endorse Sen. Obama in Tuesday's Indiana primary and in the May 20 contest in Kentucky.

The timing of this endorsement is critical because it may catch the attention of late deciders in Southern Indiana, as well as providing critical support for Obama in Kentucky's upcoming contest.

Sen. Obama's relentless focus on change, and the hordes of new voters he draws to the polls, would make it hard for his victory to be read as anything other than a mandate for changing how Washington works.

Sen. Clinton actually has engaged in more collaborative efforts with Republicans than she is given credit for. But she is battle-scarred, widely viewed as divisive and, we believe, would face a harder time enacting her program.

It's a difficult choice, but the better pick for Hoosier and Kentucky voters is Sen. Obama.

The Editors bring out an inportant point here, I too believe that Hillary would have a harder time passing her programs like health care.

Indiana is a toss up (none / 0)

and Obama is running hard in Kentucky, and West Virginia, as well as Oregon, and North Carolina.

This helps with the margins (none / 0)

Clinton will still win Kentucky, the demographics and culture are drastically in her favor here.

What this does is cut into the margins and prevent her from being able to point to a supreme blowout as "evidence" that Obama is faltering.

Re: Kentucky's Largest Newspaper Endorses Obama (none / 0)

I expect Obama to win North Carolina by double digits. It's a perfect state for him. He ought to do very well in Indiana, too, given the close geographic proximity to Illinois. I believe they share a media market.

I guess we'll see on Tuesday.

Given Indiana's demographics, Clinton should win the state.

Re: Kentucky's Largest Newspaper Endorses Obama (none / 0)

newspaper endorsements do not matter one bit. Had it been so Oama would have won CA, OH, TX, PA and MA but he lost them all by double digits.

Re: Kentucky's Largest Newspaper Endorses Obama (2.00 / 1)

You might want to look up the election results because they certainly were not all double-digits margins.
